Armin Moin

Dr. Armin Moin is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor and Director of the Quantum-Classical AI and Software Engineering (QAS) Lab at the Department of Computer Science, University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). As a DFEI Ethics Fellow, he focuses on secure AI-enabled software systems, with particular interest in hybrid quantum-classical AI frameworks and software engineering for artificial intelligence.

His lab leverages UCCS's National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research (CAE-R) status to explore applications in cybersecurity, healthcare, and energy efficiency. Current research trends include quantum circuit optimization, TinyML for speech recognition, and duplicate bug detection in software repositories.

Scientific recognition includes multiple awards: the URA award for AI-software security research, CRCW Seed Grant for anomaly modeling in dendritic branching, and OEDIT funding for the Q-Dev project. He has presented at Catalyst Expo, COMPSAC, and IEEE IoT conferences.

Dr. Moin mentors students across academic levels, including Ph.D. candidate Nazanin Siavash, Master's student Himon Thakur, and undergraduates Laura Baird, Sarah Bedell, Michael Conner, Zoe Fingleton, and CJ Rivas. His lab also collaborates with external advisee Zahra Mardani Korani at University of Lisbon.
