Armando Medinaceli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Northern Arizona University. His work focuses on ethnobiology, indigenous environmental knowledge, and traditional ecological practices, with a regional emphasis on the Bolivian Amazonia and Maya Q’eqchi’ communities.
His research spans collaborative ethnography, seasonal calendars for climate monitoring, and the impact of technology on traditional knowledge systems. Recent publications include studies on the Q’eqchi’ Maya seasonal calendar (Journal of Ethnobiology, 2023), Tsimane’ hunting practices (Routledge Handbook, 2020), and ethical guidelines for indigenous research (Ethnobiology Letters, 2018).
