Armando Hashimoto

Armando Hashimoto is a Lecturer in the School of Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and also teaches at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He co-founded El Cielo, a multidisciplinary architecture and urbanism office, alongside Surella Segú, focusing on research, design, and consulting for housing, urban development, and community projects.

• Education: Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University

His research and practice explore the intersection of architecture, urban planning, and socio-cultural contexts, emphasizing innovative solutions for urban scarcity and community-driven development. The work of El Cielo has been showcased at prestigious international events, including the 2019 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, the 2021 Chicago Architecture Biennale, and the 2022 Arc en Rêve exhibition in Bordeaux, France.
