معرفی
Armagan Kocer is a Full Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the TechMed Centre and the Bioelectric Signaling and Engineering department. He specializes in ion channel mechanics, mechanosensitive systems, and nanotechnology-driven drug delivery. His research integrates biophysics, membrane biology, and biomedical engineering to develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
Dr. Kocer holds leadership roles, including Chair of the University of Twente’s TechMed Centre (2023–present) and Membership in the NWO - Physics of Life committee (2025–2027). His work emphasizes mechanosensitive ion channels, light/gating-responsive nanopores, and tumor-derived extracellular vesicle technologies. Key achievements include the 2024 Biotech Booster Grant and over 30 peer-reviewed publications.
Research interests span: 1) Mechanosensitive ion channel function and engineering, 2) Targeted drug delivery using lipid-based carriers, 3) Nanopore sensors for biomolecule detection, and 4) Cancer biomarker discovery through membrane protein analysis. His lab focuses on translating fundamental discoveries into clinical applications, such as pH-sensitive liposomal therapies and light-activated nanovalves.
Recent work highlights include developing synthetic epitope labeling for tumor vesicles and studying light-induced MscL gating mechanisms. Collaborations with MESA+ Institute and NWO enable interdisciplinary projects at the physics-biology interface.
