He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2009 and a BA in psychology with a minor in philosophy from North Carolina State University.
Research Interests
His research focuses on human learning and memory, with specific programs in prospective memory, emotional valence effects on cognition, source monitoring, and theoretical memory phenomena (metacognition, recognition, free recall). His work explores how emotional stimuli, divided attention, and contextual reinstatement influence memory accuracy and interference.
Article Trends
His publications (2006–2015) span Cognitive Psychology, Applied Cognitive Psychology, and Neuroscience, emphasizing prospective memory, emotional memory enhancement, and source monitoring trade-offs. Key findings include the role of arousal in memory survival under cognitive depletion and the interaction between prospective memory and source memory interference.

- Honorary Member, Tau Sigma Honor Society (2010)
- Invited Keynote, Central Carolina Conference in Psychology (2017)
Advising & Grants
He mentors graduate and undergraduate students in projects like mindfulness effects on prospective memory and video games' impact on creativity. Some projects received $500 campus research grants.
Laboratory
He directs the Human Learning & Creativity (HuLC) Laboratory, which investigates emotional memory, cryptomnesia, and cognitive trade-offs. Students in his lab have presented at conferences like the Midwestern Psychological Association and Association for Psychological Science.
