Arjun Biddanda is a Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in statistical genetics and population genetics. He develops methods to analyze chromosomal dosage variations and aneuploidy, particularly in pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) data from IVF embryos. His work bridges theoretical population genetics with applications in human evolutionary history and disease studies.
His research interests include:
- Statistical modeling of meiotic recombination and fertility traits
- Evolutionary analysis of dosage-constrained genes
- Ancestral Recombination Graph (ARG) applications in complex trait mapping
- Demographic history of Indian populations
- Mathematical population genetics with spatial-temporal genealogies
- Somatic evolutionary inference models
He previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oxford (Pier Palamara's group) and computational biology roles in biotechnology startups. His academic foundation includes a PhD in Human Genetics from the University of Chicago (John Novembre's lab), focusing on population genetic theory and empirical demographic history projects.
