Arjun Bagchi

Arjun Bagchi is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He completed his PhD in 2010 from Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, following an MS from Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai (2004) and BSc from Jadavpur University, Kolkata (2002).

His research centers on theoretical high energy physics and string theory, with a specific focus on extending the holographic principle beyond Anti-de Sitter spacetimes to flat spacetimes. He has made significant contributions to understanding non-relativistic conformal systems and various singular limits of string theory, including the tensionless limit that reveals string behavior at ultra-high energies.

Dr. Bagchi's publication record demonstrates a consistent trajectory of high-impact research in quantum gravity and string theory, with multiple papers in Physical Review Letters and Journal of High Energy Physics. His work bridges theoretical concepts between gauge theories and gravity, particularly exploring how holographic principles operate in non-standard spacetime geometries.
