Arjan Stuiver

Dr. Arjan Stuiver is a Research Fellow and Technical Scientific Advisor at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, affiliated with the Clinical & Developmental Neuropsychology Department. His work focuses on human factors in transportation, particularly cyclist and driver safety through adaptive systems and simulator-based research.

Education:

• PhD (2007-2011): Behavioral and Social Sciences, University of Groningen (thesis: psychophysiology for adaptive support)
• Research at TNO (2011-2015): Mobility domain innovations

Research Interests: Intelligent Transport Systems, user state assessment via biometrics, mental workload analysis, and simulator validation. Current projects include the EU-funded XCycle initiative for cyclist safety technologies and driving simulator studies on perspective effects and behavior adaptation.

Grants & Projects:

• Lead researcher in XCycle (EU Horizon 2020)
• Driving simulator infrastructure development for diverse studies (e.g., aging drivers, eco-driving)

Labs/Teams: Manages the driving simulator facility supporting experimental psychology, clinical studies, and social behavior research.
