Aristeidis K. Georgoulias

Aristeidis K. Georgoulias is a Physicist and Senior Research Affiliate at the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) of The Cyprus Institute since May 2025, while concurrently maintaining research activities at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). His decade-long career spans atmospheric physics, satellite remote sensing, and climate change research across institutions in Greece, Cyprus, and the Netherlands.

Education:

• PhD in Environmental Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace (2011)
• Master's in Environmental Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Georgoulias' research investigates aerosols, clouds, trace gases, and radiation interrelations, emphasizing atmospheric pollution trends and human health impacts through satellite observations. He also analyzes regional/global climate simulations to advance understanding of climate change dynamics and air quality degradation mechanisms.

Scientific Awards and Recognitions:

• QUADIEEMS Postdoctoral Fellowship (two-year project leadership at AUTH and Max Planck Institute for Chemistry)

With participation in approximately 20 research projects, Georgoulias has authored or co-authored 50+ peer-reviewed journal articles, 3 book chapters, and 110+ conference papers. He serves as a contributing author for IPCC Working Group I Sixth Assessment Report (Chapter 6) and reviews for the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and 30 scientific journals.
