Arin B. Aurora

Arin B. Aurora, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She joined the faculty in 2014 at the Children's Medical Research Institute and currently leads research in cancer biology, focusing on melanoma metastasis and drug development.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cornell University
• Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of California, San Francisco
• Postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as an American Cancer Society fellow
• Postdoctoral work with Dr. Eric Olson at UT Southwestern

Dr. Aurora's research spans molecular oncology and regenerative medicine. Her current work investigates the molecular mechanisms of melanoma metastasis and the development of novel anticancer small molecules. She employs genetic tools, biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry to understand drug efficacy and toxicity. Earlier in her career, she studied cardiac regeneration and the role of microRNAs in heart repair.

Analysis of her recent publications (2022-2024) reveals a strong focus on cancer metastasis, particularly in melanoma and kidney cancer, with an emphasis on metabolic pathways and drug discovery. Her earlier work (2014-2012) centered on cardiac regeneration and the immunological basis of heart repair.

Dr. Aurora is actively involved in a cross-disciplinary team at UT Southwestern that assesses anticancer small molecules for preclinical development, aiming to uncover novel biology through the use of specific molecular tools.
