Arif Masud

Arif Masud is the John and Eileen Blumenschein Professor of Mechanics and Computations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, holding joint appointments in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Science and Engineering, and Biomedical and Translational Sciences at the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine. His research focuses on computational mechanics, including stabilized and variational multiscale methods, turbulence modeling, biomechanics, and additive manufacturing. He has held academic positions since 1994, including roles as Associate Professor and Professor at UIUC and UIC.

Education: PhD in Computational Mechanics (Stanford, 1993), MS in Structural Engineering (Stanford, 1987), BS in Civil Engineering (University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, 1986).
