معرفی
Dr. Arif Malik is a Grant-Funded Researcher at the University of Adelaide's School of Biological Sciences, within the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department. His research spans forensic science, marine biology, environmental biotechnology, and molecular biology. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology.
Research Interests:
- Development of novel forensic techniques using environmental DNA (eDNA) and metabarcoding for provenance analysis and crime scene investigation.
- Study of regional endothermy in Pacific bluefin tuna to understand thermoregulatory adaptations in marine vertebrates.
- Biotechnology applications of lignocellulose biomass for CO₂ capture and decarbonization solutions.
- Conservation tools for sustainable forestry and combating illegal timber trade.
Recent Work Focus: Articles from 2023-2025 emphasize forensic applications of dust analysis, DNA metabarcoding innovations, and climate change mitigation strategies. His 2020-2021 studies on tuna physiology reveal insights into evolutionary adaptations for thermal regulation.
Supervision: Currently co-supervising two PhD students researching sawfish conservation and sustainable forestry practices. Both students are full-time doctoral candidates.
Professional Engagement: Active in multidisciplinary research teams addressing global challenges in biodiversity conservation, forensic science, and marine biology. Office located in The Braggs Building (Floor 2), North Terrace Campus.
