Dr Arianna Bassetti holds the position of Teaching Fellow in Comparative Literature and Spanish at Queen Mary University of London. She completed her PhD titled Witnessing War and Migration in Contemporary Graphic Narrative in 2021 under Professors Omar García (Trinity College Dublin) and Galin Tihanov (QMUL), supported by a Postgraduate Research Studentship. Her academic background includes an MA in Comparative Literature from University College London (UCL).
Her research focuses on graphic narratives, testimonial literature, and visual culture, particularly examining how visual-verbal texts like non-fiction graphic novels engage with current affairs and cultural memory. She adopts a transnational perspective informed by semiotic and institutional analyses.
Bassetti has held roles as a Teaching Associate and Academic Environment Support Assistant during her PhD. She currently teaches courses such as European Literature and its Contexts, Spanish I Native, and Intersectional Feminist Writing. She previously co-organized the IMLR Graduate Forum.
