Ariane Thomas

Ariane Thomas is a Lecturer in Educational Practice and Director of the Professional Counseling Program at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. She also serves as Associate Director for Professional Training (Internship) and maintains a private psychotherapy practice. Dr. Thomas holds a Psy.D. and M.A. from Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, alongside a J.D. from Widener University School of Law.

Her research focuses on elite athlete development, racial identity challenges, and mental health accessibility for marginalized communities. She specializes in addressing grief and loss among athletes, trauma therapy for veterans, and stress management for legal professionals. Dr. Thomas has been recognized with the 2023 Projects for Progress Award for her 'Positioned for Success' project supporting Philadelphia students affected by violence and incarceration.

Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Ethics, Advanced Psychology of Women, and Internship Seminar, emphasizing social justice principles in counseling practice. She also provides pro bono mental health services through organizations like Give an Hour.
