Dr. Ari Linden is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages at the University of Kansas. He earned his PhD in German Studies from Cornell University (2013) and focuses on German Jewish thought, Marxism, Critical Theory, and 20th-century cultural studies. His research explores satirical works, exile literatures, and the intersection of comedy with philosophical discourse. Notable publications include Karl Kraus and the Discourse of Modernity (2020) and articles on Marx, Adorno, and Brecht. He has received the Hall Center Humanities Research Fellowship (2017). His teaching spans modern German culture and language.
Education: PhD (Cornell University, 2013), MA (Cornell, 2009).
Research Interests: German Jewish intellectual history, Frankfurt School theories, satirical literature, exile studies, and comedy's philosophical dimensions. His current project On the Dialectics of Nature and Need examines Marx/Engels and contemporary ecosocialism.
