Ari Glezer is the George W. Woodruff Chair in Thermal Systems and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Engineering. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, heat transfer, combustion, and energy systems, with an emphasis on flow control and diagnostics. He leads the Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory, equipped with advanced facilities like wind tunnels and laser diagnostics.
- Education: Ph.D. (1981), M.S. (1975) from California Institute of Technology; B.S. (1974) from Tel Aviv University.
His research interests include manipulating shear flows for applications in aerodynamics, combustion-driven microgenerators, electronic cooling, and MEMS-based actuator technologies. Key projects involve developing pulse-combustion microgenerators, micromachined jet actuators, and vibration-induced atomization for cooling systems.
His work is supported by agencies such as the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, DARPA, NASA, and the National Science Foundation. He has received prestigious awards like the Lewis F. Moody Award (2000) and was elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (2007) and the American Physical Society (2007).
Professor Glezer has co-authored over 10 patents, including innovations in synthetic jet actuators, combustion-driven systems, and thermal management techniques.
