Arevik Gnutzmann-Mkrtchyan is Professor of Economics at the University of Regensburg and Deputy Academic Director of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies. Her research focuses on international trade, trade agreements, political economy, and development economics with regional expertise in Eastern Europe.
Key research areas include:
- Empirical analysis of international trade in goods and services
- Political economy of trade agreements and policy reforms
- Impact of tariff changes and preferential trade systems
- Development economics in transition economies
- WTO dispute resolution and trade law
Her work has examined trade preference withdrawals, customs union effectiveness, and services trade competitiveness. Gnutzmann-Mkrtchyan has received numerous awards including the Caroline Herschel Programme grant, Armen Alchian best paper award, and recognition as a Young Researcher at the Nobel Laureates Meeting in Economics.
