Dr. Areti Galani is a Lecturer in Museum and Heritage Studies at Newcastle University, UK. She holds an MA in Museology and a PhD in Computing Science. Her research focuses on people-centered methodologies in digital cultural technologies and their impact on communities, particularly those living with dementia. She co-led the AHRC-funded 'Rock Art on Mobile Phones' project, creating web apps for UK rock art sites, and supervised the first museological PhD on meaning-making processes on Flickr Commons. Currently, she is an investigator in the Horizon2020 CoHERE project, examining digital practices in European heritage dialogue, and an academic partner in the ERASMUS+ Active Ageing and Heritage in Adult Learning project.
