Archan Ganguly, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. His research focuses on identifying molecular signals regulating long-range protein trafficking in polarized neurons, particularly the mechanisms underlying axonal transport and synaptic communication. He uses advanced live-imaging techniques combined with electrophysiology to study how defects in these processes contribute to neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders. Ganguly’s lab employs patient-derived human neurons (iNeurons) and murine models to investigate cargo delivery systems critical for synaptic function.
Education: PhD in Neuroscience from Ohio University (2020); Graduate degree in Zoology from University of Delhi. Postdoctoral training at University of California (details incomplete).
Research Interests: Molecular regulation of axonal transport, synaptic plasticity, protein trafficking defects in neurodegenerative diseases, and neuron-oligodendrocyte signaling. Techniques include high-resolution imaging, optogenetics, and CRISPR-based approaches.
Labs/Teams: Principal Investigator of Ganguly Lab, affiliated with Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience and URMC Neuroscience programs. Collaborates with researchers in neurobiology, anatomy, and developmental biology.
