April Holm is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Mississippi's Department of History within the College of Liberal Arts. She also serves as Director of the Center for Civil War Research, focusing on interdisciplinary studies of the Civil War era.

Her research explores the interplay between morality and politics in the 19th-century United States, particularly during the Civil War and Reconstruction periods. Key areas include:

Current projects involve a book analyzing provost marshals and civilian interactions in occupied border states during the Civil War.
