Professor Apostolos Meliones is a Full Professor at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus since 2005. He holds a diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras (1994) and a Ph.D. in distributed systems and telecoms from NTUA (1999). His research focuses on distributed systems, metacomputing, network embedded systems, and telecommunication technologies.
- Coordinated major EU projects including ESPRIT INNO, EROPPA, SATWAYS, and MANTO
- Developed the MPC8260 Linux ATM device driver
- Lead non-profit initiatives like the Lighthouse for the Blind audiobook library
His awards include grants from the Bodosakis Foundation and State Scholarships Foundation. He teaches courses on Telecommunication Systems, Embedded Systems, and Distributed Systems. Current research emphasizes autonomous navigation systems and open-access educational resources like the KALLIPOS+ project.
