Dr. Aoi Yamanaka is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Academic Services in the School of Integrative Studies at George Mason University. Her work focuses on teaching courses like Global Leadership, Social Justice Consciousness, and academic advising in student affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from George Mason University and dual Master's degrees in Educational Leadership and Counselor Education from Western Michigan University, alongside a Bachelor's degree from Kagawa University, Japan.
Her research explores social justice in higher education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and leadership development for diverse student populations. Key themes include equitable online leadership education, advocate archetypes, and strategies for administrators supporting marginalized groups.
