Anubav Vasudevan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Chicago, serving as Director of PhD Admissions (2024-25). He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2012) and a BS in Physics and Philosophy from Virginia Tech (2002). His research bridges formal epistemology and the history of logic, particularly addressing the reconciliation of objective probability with deterministic metaphysics and the study of Leibniz’s logical systems within the broader history of logic.
His teaching includes advanced courses on the philosophy of AI, Leibniz’s logic and metaphysics, and accelerated introductions to formal logic. He has also led graduate workshops on paper revision and preparation for academic publishing. Vasudevan’s work frequently intersects with foundational questions in metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of science, with notable contributions to debates on probability theory and historical logical systems.
He has held teaching positions at the University of Chicago since 2011, with a leave in 2018-19. His courses reflect a commitment to integrating historical and contemporary philosophical inquiry, exemplified by seminars on Leibniz and C.S. Peirce, as well as interdisciplinary topics like AI-driven epistemology.
