Antonio Vesco is a Research Fellow (RTD-A) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Catania. He holds a PhD in Anthropology, Ethnology, and Cultural Studies from the University of Siena and a Political Science PhD from Université Paris 1 Sorbonne (CESSP-CNRS). His research focuses on political subjectivity, organized crime's political dimensions, corruption, commoning practices, and regional representations in Italy.
He served as a postdoctoral fellow at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2017–2021) and researcher at the University of Turin. He contributed to EU-funded projects like Heteropolitics and RES Foundation initiatives on mafia and corruption. Vesco co-directs the 'Politics and Community' book series and edits Meridiana and Rivista di Antropologia Contemporanea. He co-founded crime research labs in Turin and Veneto.
His work bridges anthropology, political science, and sociology, analyzing mafia-legality interplay, urban commons governance, and Mediterranean dynamics. Key themes include: the political economy of organized crime, civil society criminalization, and innovative urban policies.
