Antonio Faonio is an Assistant Professor in the Digital Security Department at EURECOM, specializing in Cryptography. His research focuses on non-malleable cryptography, leakage and tamper-resilient systems, zero-knowledge proofs, and re-randomizable encryption. He holds a Ph.D. from Sapienza University of Rome (2015), advised by Giuseppe Ateniese. Before joining EURECOM, he was a postdoctoral researcher at IMDEA Software Institute (2017-2020) and Aarhus University (2015-2016).
His work spans theoretical advancements and practical applications in cryptography, including zkSNARKs, leakage-resilient schemes, and secure protocols. Key contributions include non-malleable codes, secret sharing schemes, and cryptographic primitives resistant to side-channel attacks. He collaborates with leading researchers like Dario Fiore and Jesper Buus Nielsen, and has been funded by projects such as PROPOLIS and TrustInCloud.
Antonio advises students including Luigi Russo (co-advised with Melek Önen) and Bhargav Manam, and actively seeks motivated researchers in cryptography. His hobbies include running, often combining it with international conferences on the French Riviera.
