Prof. Antonio Bucci is an Associate Professor at the Department of Bioscienze e Territorio, Università degli Studi del Molise. His research focuses on environmental microbiology, bioremediation, and hydrogeology, with emphasis on microbial communities in contaminated environments, groundwater dynamics, and truffle-associated bacteria. He has contributed to studies on microbial biocontrol agents, soil and water contamination mitigation, and interdisciplinary approaches to hydrogeological challenges in Southern Italy.
His work integrates microbiological, geochemical, and ecological methods to address environmental issues such as hydrocarbon degradation, heavy metal phytoremediation, and urban ecosystem interactions. Recent studies highlight his exploration of microbial tracers in aquifers, bacterial roles in white truffle traceability, and biochar applications in contaminated soils. Collaborative projects, such as SAFEBIOTECH, aim to develop sustainable guidelines for cultural heritage conservation using biotechnology.
Publications span 20+ years, demonstrating expertise in microbial ecology, environmental engineering, and mycology. His research bridges fundamental and applied science, addressing both academic and societal needs in sustainability and environmental protection.
