Antonio Bojanic is a Senior Professor of Practice in Economics at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts, affiliated with the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from Auburn University (1994) and a B.A. from Saint Mary’s College (1990). His research focuses on Macroeconomics, the economics of pandemics, and money/banking, with a particular emphasis on Bolivia's economy, fiscal decentralization, inflation dynamics, and policy impacts. Bojanic has held visiting professorships at institutions like Shanghai University, California State University Sacramento, and Humboldt State University, and has extensive overseas experience in Bolivia, Peru, Germany, and Sierra Leone.
His academic work spans empirical analyses of South American political economy, the effects of fiscal policies on inequality and corruption, and the socio-economic impacts of global crises like the pandemic. He has advised the Masters Program at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar and served as a consultant for the World Bank, IDB, UN, DFID, and USAID. Bojanic's publications address topics such as inflation modeling, foreign aid efficacy, and gender labor participation in developing economies.
Bojanic’s research highlights interdisciplinary approaches to development challenges, integrating econometric methods with policy analysis. His recent work on Bolivia’s MAS regime and the differential effects of decentralization underscores his focus on bridging academic insights with real-world governance issues.
