معرفی
Antonella Accardo is a Research Fellow at the Department of Energy (DENERG), Politecnico di Torino, where she also serves as an external teacher and course collaborator in the Master's Degree program in Decarbonization and Sustainability of Propulsion Systems under the Mechanical Engineering curriculum. Her work is centered on sustainability and environmental impact assessment in the automotive and energy sectors.
Her research interests focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), sustainable transport, hydrogen energy systems, and battery technologies. She applies these to evaluate the environmental footprint of emerging technologies such as electric drivetrains, hydrogen engines, and advanced battery thermal management systems. Her methodological focus includes both technical and economic life cycle analyses (LCA and LCC).
The recent publications highlight a consistent trend in assessing sustainable propulsion technologies, particularly in electric and hydrogen-based systems. Her work bridges mechanical and environmental engineering, contributing to decarbonization strategies in the transportation sector. Topics span battery efficiency, thermal regulation, hydrogen production, and full-system sustainability evaluations.
Antonella is involved in EU-funded research projects under Horizon Europe's Global Challenges program, specifically the GEN1200 project (2024–2027) focused on Climate, Energy, and Mobility. This indicates active participation in high-impact, competitive research initiatives aimed at sustainable energy transitions.
She completed her doctoral thesis in 2025 under the supervision of Ezio Spessa, titled Life Cycle Assessment: tools and techniques for the automotive sector, which underscores her expertise and scholarly contribution to sustainable automotive engineering.
She is affiliated with the research group at DENERG working on EU-funded projects, collaborating with researchers such as Ezio Spessa, Michele Monticelli, Gaia Gentilucci, and others. Her work is disseminated through journals like World Electric Vehicle Journal and Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, as well as international conferences including ICEM and the International Conference on Engines & Vehicles.
