Anton Markus Pasing is a Professor of Design and Typology of Building Forms and their Representations at the Peter Behrens School of Arts, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. He is also an Adjunct Professor and former Visiting Professor at Texas A&M University’s Department of Architecture. His academic work integrates architectural design, phenomenological typology, and expansive artistic research, with a strong focus on representation and digital media.
- Professor, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (since 2003)
- Adjunct Professor, Texas A&M University (since 2009)
- Executive Professor of Practice, Texas A&M University (since 2008)
- Scientific Director, MKI Institute for Media, Communication and Information Technology (2004–2007)
His research interests include experimental architecture, crossmedia, 3D design, bionics, and phenomenological design. He leads the 'remote-controlled' studio for expansive artistic research, exploring the intersection of architecture, media, and representation. Pasing’s work emphasizes innovative form development and the typological constants of architectural expression.
The trends in his publications and projects reveal a consistent engagement with digital visualization, hybrid spatial forms, and the integration of art and architecture. His works often explore utopian and speculative design, as seen in titles like Eutopia II and Evolo Skyscrapers, reflecting a forward-looking, interdisciplinary approach that bridges design theory, media art, and architectural practice.
Notable scientific awards include:
- NRW Young Artists Award (1999)
- Villa Massimo Scholarship (1997)
- Nomination for Smart Future Minds Award (2010)
- 1st Prize, KVNO Düsseldorf Art Competition (2005)
- Promotional Award, Chamber of Architects NRW (1990)
Pasing has led significant research projects, including a National Science Foundation-funded collaboration on computer graphics studios and a 3D visualization project for cancer therapy communication with Heidelberg University Hospital. He has advised numerous students and leads interdisciplinary teams in both academic and artistic contexts. He has also held teaching assignments at institutions such as the Technical University of Darmstadt, Muthesius University, and the University of Innsbruck.
He is actively involved in curating and participating in international exhibitions, including the Venice and Rotterdam Architecture Biennales, and regularly presents at symposia on architecture, media, and spatial design. His studio 'remote-controlled' serves as a hub for experimental, media-driven architectural research.
