PD Dr. Antoine Pommerol is a Lecturer in the Space and Planetary Science Division at the Physics Institute, University of Bern. He leads the Planetary Ice Laboratory, focusing on icy planetary surface analogs and space missions like the Comet Interceptor (Deputy PI) and Europa Clipper. His research spans planetary reflectance, cometary studies, and Mars geology. Key roles include managing the ByPASS/Sshade spectral database and contributing to missions like Rosetta and BepiColombo. Awards include recognition from NASA’s MRO and ESA’s Rosetta missions. Pommerol teaches planetary science and supervises PhD students. His lab develops cutting-edge instruments for simulating extraterrestrial environments and collaborates globally on data distribution. Outreach includes media appearances and public engagement.
