Antje Heese

Antje Heese is an Associate Professor at the University of Missouri within the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) and the Department of Biochemistry. Her research focuses on novel roles of vesicular trafficking in innate immunity and nutrient-deficiency responses, particularly studying clathrin-coated vesicle (CCV) components in plant immune signaling and iron (Fe) deficiency mechanisms.

Dr. Heese’s lab investigates how vesicular trafficking networks regulate plasma membrane proteomes in Arabidopsis and maize, using interdisciplinary approaches such as biochemical analysis, live-cell imaging, and metabolomics. She aims to improve crop yield and nutritional value for global food security.
