Anthony Micucci is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Memorial University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from York University and conducts fieldwork on the changing division of labor between public and private policing in Canada. His research examines the social control implications of this division for society.
His research interests focus on the sociological dimensions of gambling, including leisure, health, social inequality, work and industry, deviance, and crime. He is particularly interested in investigating Canada's expanding legalized gambling sector across various forms such as lotteries, casinos, video lottery terminals, and slot machines.
Micucci's publications primarily explore policing dynamics, correctional system challenges, and criminal justice processes. His work consistently addresses themes of social control, institutional power structures, and deviance across different contexts including campus environments, women's correctional facilities, and private security operations.
