Anthony Mavuto Gunde

Dr. Anthony Mavuto Gunde is a Senior Lecturer in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies at Chancellor College, University of Malawi.

Education:

• PhD in Journalism Studies from Stellenbosch University, South Africa
• MA in Communications from Missouri State University, USA

Research Interests: Dr. Gunde focuses on the political economy of mass communications, participatory development communication, media audience research, new media and civic engagement, and the intersection of religion, media, and culture.

Publications: His work includes analyzing reggae music as alternative media in Malawi’s democracy, reflecting broader trends in African political and cultural discourse.
