Anthony Jack is an Associate Professor and Elmer G. Beamer-Hubert H. Schneider Chair in Ethics at Case Western Reserve University. His work bridges experimental psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy, focusing on consciousness, social cognition, and ethical decision-making. He leads the Brain, Mind, and Consciousness Lab, utilizing fMRI to explore attention, self-development, and neural conflicts between cognitive domains.
Jack holds a PhD in experimental psychology and has extensive training in philosophy and neuroscience. His research integrates neuroscientific methods with philosophical inquiry, addressing topics like dehumanization, ethical leadership, and the neural basis of moral judgment. Recent work examines health disparities in African Americans through neurocognitive and behavioral lenses.
Key research interests include:
- Consciousness and attention mechanisms
- Social cognition and ethical decision-making
- Neural correlates of health behavior and self-management
- Organizational and leadership neuroscience
- Religious belief systems and cognitive psychology
His articles highlight interdisciplinary approaches, revealing neural trade-offs in cognitive systems (e.g., analytical vs. empathetic thinking) and applying fMRI to study stress, compassion, and leadership. Current projects emphasize precision health interventions and understanding racial health disparities through neurobiological pathways.
