Dr. Anthony J. Lentz is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Bellarmine University’s College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on insect physiology and behavior, utilizing insects as model organisms to explore topics such as gland function, larval learning, and melatonin effects on development. He has mentored students on projects like the role of the ventral eversible gland in velvetbean caterpillars, memory retention in corn earworm larvae, and melatonin’s impact on larval life cycles.

Dr. Lentz is committed to undergraduate research and education, serving as an advisor for incoming freshmen programs like Knight U and SOAR, and participating in student-organized events such as Professor in the Hot Seat. His collaborative work with students has been showcased at Bellarmine’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.
