Anthony Hatzimoysis is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Athens. He has held academic positions at University College London, the University of Manchester, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He serves as a regular visiting professor in the Philosophy of Social Sciences at Manchester Business School and is a visiting professor at EHESS (invited by Pascal Engel). He is a co-founder of the European Philosophical Society for the Study of Emotions. His research focuses on the philosophy of emotions, values, and self-knowledge, with notable works including Philosophy and the Emotions (Cambridge UP), Self-Knowledge (Oxford UP), and The Philosophy of Sartre (Routledge).
His research explores themes like mood rationality, the epistemic role of affective states, and existentialist perspectives on emotion. Recent presentations include discussions on mood rationality, the interplay between moods and values, Sartrean emotion theory, and the cognitive functions of moods in epistemological contexts.
Dr. Hatzimoysis has engaged in interdisciplinary dialogue through workshops and seminars, such as the 'Reasons and Feelings' workshop at the Nicod Institute. His work bridges continental and analytic philosophy, emphasizing phenomenological approaches to understanding emotional experience and its implications for ethics and epistemology.
