Anthony Gitter

Anthony Gitter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an Investigator at the Morgridge Institute for Research. He holds the Jeanne M. Rowe Chair in Virology and is affiliated with the Data Science Institute and the Center for Genomic Science Innovation. His research focuses on computational methods for reconstructing biological networks, machine learning applications in protein engineering, and drug discovery. Gitter teaches courses such as Computational Network Biology and collaborates across disciplines to advance biomedical research.

Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science (Carnegie Mellon University), Postdoctoral research at MIT and Microsoft Research. Research interests include signaling pathways, transcriptional networks, and integrating multi-omics data. His lab develops tools like nn4dms and METL for protein engineering and pathway analysis.
