معرفی
Dr Anthony Baross is an Associate Professor of Sport & Exercise Physiology at the University of Northampton, affiliated with the Science Centre for Physical Activity and Life Sciences. He is actively involved in research related to cardiovascular responses to exercise, particularly focusing on isometric and eccentric muscle contractions in both healthy individuals and clinical populations such as stroke survivors.
His research interests center around the role of resistance training in managing hypertension and improving cardiovascular health. Dr Baross has led and contributed to multiple funded research projects, particularly examining the dose-response relationship between isometric training and blood pressure reduction, as well as acute cardiovascular responses in stroke survivors. His work bridges laboratory-based physiology with real-world public health applications.
Dr Baross has a strong record of research output from 2009 to 2025, with a noticeable increase in recent years. His projects are supported by internal funds, charitable grants, and capital funding, indicating active engagement with research institutions and health charities. Though specific article titles are not listed, his research activity remains consistent and impactful in the field of exercise and cardiovascular physiology.
- Acute cardiovascular responses to eccentric muscle contractions in stroke survivors (2024)
- Examination of the dose-response relationship between isometric resistance training and decreases in blood pressure (2024)
- Effects of Isometric Resistance Training on Ambulatory Blood Pressure and Morning Blood Pressure Surge in Young Normotensive Men (2018)
He currently supervises postgraduate research students and is accepting new PhD candidates. His work is supported by collaborations with researchers such as Dr. B. Baxter, Dr. T. Kay, and Dr. B. Wright. Dr Baross is also involved in knowledge transfer and public health initiatives, including projects under 'Reach For Health' and 'ICS Isometric The reduction of hypertension through isometric exercise'.
