معرفی
Anouk Bomers is an Assistant Professor in Multidisciplinary Water Management at the University of Twente. Her expertise focuses on flood modeling, river dynamics, and hydraulic engineering with particular emphasis on dike breach analysis and historic flood reconstruction. She holds a PhD from the University of Twente (2021) and has contributed to over 74 peer-reviewed publications since 2014.
Research interests include fluvial hydraulics, sediment transport processes, and the application of machine learning in flood prediction. Key areas of exploration involve optimizing hydraulic models for varying discharge conditions, analyzing scour hole development in lowland rivers, and assessing dike failure mechanisms during extreme events.
- Notable Achievements:
- Recipient of the KIVI Hoogendoorn Award 2020 for Best PhD Thesis in Fluid Mechanics
- Hydrology 2022 Best Paper Award (2025)
- TGS bridging grant (2015) and Waternetwerk Scriptieprijs (2016)
- Grants & Funding:
- Historic flood reconstruction projects supported by institutional grants
- Collaborations with industry partners like Waternetwerk
Her work bridges computational modeling with real-world applications, emphasizing probabilistic forecasting and emergency response strategies. Current research focuses on integrating LSTM neural networks for real-time flood inundation prediction and refining mesh optimization techniques in hydraulic simulations.
