Annikki Herranen-Tabibi is a Research Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Her work integrates medical and environmental anthropology with a focus on the Circumpolar Arctic and Indigenous Sámi communities in Sápmi. She examines the intersections of global health, climate justice, and ecological care through long-term ethnographic research.

Research Interests: Her scholarship addresses climate-induced disruptions to Arctic subsistence livelihoods, cryosphere collapse in Sápmi's permafrost peatlands, kin-based caregiving practices, and Nordic welfare state development. She centers interdisciplinary approaches to care—interpersonal, intergenerational, and ecological—within environmental humanities and social sciences.
