معرفی
Annika Schlemm is a researcher affiliated with the Department of Water and Climate under the Faculty of Engineering. Her work focuses on interdisciplinary environmental challenges, particularly in the Upper White Nile and Lake Victoria basins. She specializes in integrating ecosystem services with the water-energy-food-environment (WEFE) nexus to develop sustainable conservation strategies.
Her research interests include climate change impacts on river systems, stakeholder-driven biophysical mapping, and the development of transboundary governance frameworks. Key projects address sediment dynamics in the Nile basin, water quality integration in the WEFE nexus, and attribution of historical climate impacts on river flows.
Annika has presented at major conferences including discussions on Nature-Based Solutions for water quality management in Kenya and climate change impacts on the WEFE nexus in East Africa. Her work emphasizes stakeholder engagement to bridge gaps between scientific data and policy implementation.
Since 2022, she has been actively involved in training initiatives like the Brussels-based 'Modelling water quality under global change' workshop. Her research outputs highlight contributions to both regional case studies and methodological advancements in nexus frameworks.
