Dr. Annie Odell is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) since 2012. Prior to this, she spent 12 years at Azusa Pacific University, where she served as the Nurse Practitioner Director for 7 years. She holds an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Mount St. Mary’s College, a BSN from Regents College, an MSN from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. from the University of San Diego.
Her research focuses on culturally informed healthcare practices, including grounded theory research on determinants of wellness in Hawaiian populations, ADHD treatment options, displaced aggression in high-risk groups, and cultural challenges in nursing care for cancer patients. She emphasizes integrating psychosocial and cultural determinants into clinical practice.
Dr. Odell teaches advanced nursing courses such as Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Physiology, and DNP Clinical Practicum. She is affiliated with the CSULB School of Nursing and is based in Office NUR-51.
