Annie Greene is an Assistant Professor specializing in modern Middle East history at the University of Utah. Her research explores cultural and intellectual production in the Ottoman Arab provinces, particularly Iraq, with a focus on gender and nondominant religious communities.

Greene's scholarship examines intersections of print media, neoclassical poetry, and civic participation during the Nahda (Arab renaissance). Her current book project analyzes multilingual press networks and Ottoman identity formation in Iraq.
Her recent publications highlight cultural dynamics in the Ottoman Empire, including the role of print in Mosul and Jewish community experiences in Baghdad. These works reflect her broader interests in cross-cultural interactions and marginalized voices in Middle East historiography.
