Annie Colebatch is a Senior Lecturer at the Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University. She completed her BSc (Hons) and PhD at ANU, followed by postdoctoral appointments at the University of Bath (Endeavour Research Fellowship), University of Oxford, and University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on inorganic chemistry, synthesis, catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, and electrochemistry, with a long-term goal of developing catalysts for sustainability.
- Current projects include Self-assembled supramolecular cages for guest binding and catalysis (2023–2026) and Cooperativity by Design: Unlocking Metal-Metal-Ligand Cooperativity (2020–2023).
- She teaches advanced courses in Green Chemistry (CHEM1201), Catalysis in Chemistry (CHEM3206), and Organometallic Chemistry (CHEM3203).
Her work involves creating bimetallic complexes and designing ligands that enable cooperative interactions between metal centers. Techniques include NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and electrochemistry. She leads the Colebatch Group, which emphasizes ligand design and metal-metal interplay in catalytic systems.
- Awards
- Rita Cornforth Lectureship (2022)
- J G Russell Award (2020)
- Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) (2020–2023)
Recent publications highlight her expertise in 1,8-naphthyridine ligands and transition metal cooperativity, with applications in hydrogen fuels, environmental remediation, and sustainable materials. She is also an active contributor to projects under the ANU Futures Scheme (2020–2028) aimed at addressing global emissions challenges.
