Annica Gehlen is a doctoral student at the Berlin School of Economics and a research associate in the Department of Public Economics at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). Her work combines dynamic structural models and quasi-experimental methods with administrative labor market data and household survey data.

Her research focuses on labor economics, particularly labor markets and social security systems such as disability insurance and public pensions. She has contributed to open-source projects like the German Taxes and Transfers Simulator (gettsim) and dynamic programming tools for economic modeling.
Recent publications highlight her analysis of disability benefits' impacts on employment, earnings, and poverty risk, as well as pension policy reforms and gender-specific labor market dynamics. She has presented at major conferences including the Jahrestagung des Vereins für Socialpolitik and the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE) conference.
