Annette Stowasser is a Senior Lecturer and core educator in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program at the University of Cincinnati since 2016. She teaches fundamental neuroscience courses including NS4010 (neurophysiology lab), NS2002 (brain-behavior relationships), and NS1055 (introductory neuroscience). Her research focuses on visual systems, neurophysiology, and animal eyes, particularly in invertebrates. She developed an ophthalmoscope for small animal eye analysis with Dr. Buschbeck, pivotal for studies in arthropod vision.
Education includes a B.S. in Biology from Xavier University (2007) and a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati (2013). She began her career in opticianry in Germany (1983–2000) before transitioning to academia.
Research interests span electrophysiology, polarization vision in aquatic insects, and neurotechnology. Collaborative work includes the NSF-funded project "Coordinated eye growth in sophisticated arthropod visual systems" (2019–2023).
