Annette Olesen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Aalborg University. She is affiliated with CASTOR - Sociological and criminological research on social differentiation and social control.
Her research focuses on:
- Resocialization efforts inside and outside prisons
- Barriers during prisoner release and post-sentence informal meetings
- Debt through criminal costs imposition
- Effects of Denmark's gang packages from multiple perspectives
- Criminal law expansionism and its branching into other legal areas
- Access to justice issues, especially legal aid for vulnerable groups
