Annette Bauer

Annette Bauer is a Research Fellow in the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her work focuses on economic evaluations of mental health and social care interventions, particularly in perinatal mental health and vulnerable populations. Bauer specializes in methodologies such as cost-effectiveness modeling, mixed-methods research, and implementation science to inform policy decisions. She has contributed to high-impact studies, including the landmark report on the economic costs of perinatal mental health problems in the UK, commissioned by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance.

Her research explores the economic impact of interventions targeting maternal mental health, community capacity building, and social innovation. Bauer has led projects in both high-income and low- and middle-income countries, emphasizing participatory approaches to generate evidence for resource-limited systems. She also collaborates with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), focusing on economic evidence for social care guidelines related to home care, reablement, and hospital-to-care-home transitions.
