Annette B. Gadegbeku, MD, is an Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Community Health in the Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine at Drexel University. She also serves as Senior Associate Dean in the Office of Community Health and Inclusive Excellence, overseeing initiatives to address health disparities and promote equity. Dr. Gadegbeku’s academic roles include leadership in the Healing Hurt People program at the Dornsife School of Public Health and assistant director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.
She holds a BA in Biology from Brown University and an MD from Temple University School of Medicine. Her clinical expertise spans primary care, preventive medicine, refugee health, and trauma-informed care. She has led community outreach programs like Drexel’s mobile COVID-19 services and advises student-run clinics such as the Health Outreach Project (HOP), which serves underserved populations in Philadelphia.
Her research focuses on health equity, community engagement, and the impact of marginalized populations’ healthcare access. She emphasizes culturally responsive communication and interprofessional collaboration in medical education. Dr. Gadegbeku has received the 2024 Dr. Donna M. Murasko Award for her civic engagement efforts. She is a member of the National Academies of Practice and advises national initiatives like the Two in One HIV/COVID screening model.
Her clinical services include primary care for all ages, women’s health, and refugee health. She also participates in global health missions in Jamaica, Kenya, and Puerto Rico through Glory Unlimited Ministries.
