Dr. Annett Püttmann is a Lecturer (Studienrätin) in the Faculty of Mathematics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, specializing in Analysis and Didactics. She is affiliated with the Winkelmann Group and the Floer Center of Geometry. Her research focuses on algebraic geometry, Lie groups, and symplectic geometry, with notable contributions to topics like affine group actions and complex spaces. She has held a PI role in the SFB-TR 12 collaborative research project (2011–2013) and received a stipend from Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes during her studies.
Teaching responsibilities include Mathematics courses for Engineering, Information Technology, and Geosciences, such as 'Mathematics III for ET/IT' and 'Mathematics for Geosciences and SEPM.' Her courses emphasize service teaching for interdisciplinary programs.
In administration, she serves as the decentralized Equality and Diversity Officer for the Faculty of Mathematics since 2023, and represents academic staff interests in the Faculty Council and SZMA. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Mathematics (2003) under Prof. Alan Huckleberry, with postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley (1997) and international exchanges at Sapienza University of Rome (1994–1995).
Research publications span complex analysis, geometric group actions, and differential equations. She has authored preprints on geometric optimization and fitting algorithms. Her work bridges pure mathematics with educational outreach through initiatives like HDM@RUB’s digital materials and support for prospective students.
Professional activities include former roles in the Bochum Hockey Club and volunteer work with Bochumer Uni-Zwerge e.V. She maintains a strong commitment to promoting gender equality and diversity in academia.
